Guest Post: Enora's Weekend with Auntie Claire

Hi Everyone, Auntie Claire here as guest blogger to tell the story of Enora’s weekend at Auntie Claire’s house.  While Mom and Dad headed off to a childfree wedding in South Carolina, Enora packed her little suitcase and arrived at my door Wednesday May 14 and stayed until Sunday May 18.  When she got here, her room was all ready.

Auntie Claire took Thursday and Friday off work to be a “Stay at Home Auntie,” and had lots of fun things planned for her and Enora.  Thursday morning, Uncle Andrew went off to work and after breakfast and a little chillin’, we went to Michaels and the Farmington Hills library.  The entire basement of the library is a kid area complete with padded crawling spot for babies, stage with puppets, building blocks, and a kitchen area with lots of fake food.

Later we took a selfie and a video for Mom and Dad, who were stuck in traffic on the way to South Carolina.  We took lots of selfies and videos for Mom and Dad throughout the weekend.  Enora loved getting picture texts of Mom.

The next morning was the big day at the zoo!  But Enora woke up with a fever.  She wasn't happy unless she was sleeping on Auntie’s head.

Thankfully, with some meds, she rallied, and with the okay from Mom and a proper hat, she headed off to the zoo with Uncle Andrew and Carrie (his mom).  At the zoo, Enora fed giraffes, climbed up to see the prairie dogs, loved the arctic tunnel, and then fell asleep.

Later that night, after naps, Enora went out with Auntie Claire and Carolynn to celebrate Greg’s birthday at Ashley’s.  I ordered her a children’s meal, but she would have none of it, and would only eat my macaroni.  Good thing there was a giant portion.

Saturday morning, Enora had brunch with her Terry cousins, and Uncle Andrew and I.  She was good when we left the house, but the fever struck again.  She spent the first half of brunch snuggled on Auntie’s shoulder but once the fever meds kicked in she sat and ate with Aunt Janet and colored with cousin Kelsey.  Later that evening, Auntie Claire headed out to be a Little Monster at the artRAVE: ARTPOP Ball and Enora went to spend the evening with Nonno and Nonna.

Sunday morning, Uncle Andrew tried to let Auntie Claire sleep in and later gave his first baby bath (while Auntie Claire sat on the closed toilet eating breakfast, just in case he needed help).

Still fighting the fever, we stayed close to home on Sunday and didn’t do much.  When we found out Mom and Dad would be home that evening to collect Enora instead of the next morning, we squeezed in one last trip to the park.

It was a busy weekend for Enora.  Auntie Claire had a great time Thursday and Friday as a “Stay at Home Auntie” and was sad to see Enora head home.  Next time Mom and Dad head out of town, Aunt Janet is on duty.  She’s going to have such a great weekend!
